What is YTquotes?
YTquotes lets you fetch, save, and share the moments that matter from YouTube — timestamped to the second, like citing a page in a book.
For everyone
Anyone can paste a YouTube link and fetch its transcript — no sign-up required. Once fetched, the transcript is cached in our shared library so the next person who looks it up gets an instant result.
The resulting videos are publicly listed, making YTquotes a growing commons of searchable YouTube transcripts.
For members
Sign up and you get a personal library. Bookmark any video, tag it with categories, and build a collection that’s easy to search and browse.
Bookmarks are public by default — sharing is what this is about. You can make individual bookmarks and quotes private if you need to.
Quotes — the highlight feature
A quote is a timestamped bookmark — like citing a specific page in a book. Mark the start and end of any moment, and add a note explaining why it matters to you.
Quotes don’t require a transcript to exist upfront. You can save a moment right away — with your own annotation — and fetch the transcript later if you want the extracted text. When a transcript is fetched, it’s added to the publicly viewable videos list and cached for everyone.
This means you’re never blocked by slow fetches or server-side restrictions. Capture the moment, write down what it meant to you, and enrich it with transcript text whenever you’re ready.
Public profiles
Every member gets a profile at ytquotes.com/u/yourhandle. Your public bookmarks and quotes appear there automatically — make something private only if you don’t want it seen.
But we want to share don't we? =)
